Belated Merry CHRISTmas and a Happy 2010 Everyone!

Hello everyone!

I hope your Christmas was filled with many BLESSINGS and I pray that the new year will be more fruitful for all of you than you could ever hope or dream. I love Christmas and all that it represents but part of me will be secretly relieved (not so secret anymore, now is it?!) that the hustle and bustle of the season is over. Now maybe things can settle back into a 'normal' routine again!

I also wanted to take this opportunity to remind all of you interested that this coming Sunday, January 3rd, 2010 is the last chance to sign up for the next C.H.O.C.olate study, the newly revised and edited, Breaking Free, by Beth Moore! Class will start on Tuesday, January 12th at Living Light Church in the library from 9-11 in the morning! Hope to see you there!

Also, even if you have gone through this study in the past I want to encourage you to consider taking it again. All 11 videos are brand new and the study itself is freshly edited to include testimonies of women, just like us, who have been freed from bondage in one way or another. I got a sneak peak at the Introduction video and Beth herself shared that this study has been the most life-changing for her of all of her studies and she was set free from particular strongholds in her life the first time around 10+ years ago. However, recently she found herself struggling with another and different stronghold and decided to go through the study again on her own...went out and bought the book at a bookstore even :) and because of the impact it had on her yet again she decided that this would be one of the ones that she would update.

What am I trying to say? Perhaps you did take this study before. Perhaps even at LLC (I know they did it about 5 years ago or so). I pray that it was life changing for you at that time but maybe there is something else, new and different, that you feel in bondage over or are struggling with and this study could speak to you where you're at NOW...even though you've already done it before. God's Word speaks to us differently at different times in our lives and maybe something else will speak to you this time than last time. Just pray about it, will you? See what God says about it!

Blessings to you all! And see you in a couple of weeks!

Memory Verse and other important reminders!

I hope this post finds all of you enjoying your last week of homework for Esther. I can hardly believe that we have already reached the end of this study. Time has certainly flown by and God has truly spoken to me in so many ways. I pray that each of you experienced the same and that your relationship with our Father is even stronger and you have been set free from fears that have held you captive. I know I have! Praise God!

A few reminders for class on Tuesday:

1) This is your LAST chance to bring in any recipes, party, entertaining ideas, or any promises from the Word that have sustained and encouraged you through times that it has been, "Tough being a woman".

2) Poinsettia orders for S.P.Y. need to be to Diane Rislow or Flo Mundt by Tuesday as well. Flo's daughter Jenny is a part of the Youth Group and will receive credit for any orders that we place. For more info. on what the different plant options are click here! Any questions, please contact Diane or Flo.

3) This is our last week of homework and next Tuesday will be our Brunch and Fellowship day. We usually have the following options for brunch contributions: Breakfast (egg or other) bake, muffins, fruit, juice, bacon/sausage, and other! If you have an idea of what you might like to bring please bring the recipe with you on Tuesday as well so we can place it in our book to share with everyone!

Now, onto our memory verse for this week!

He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
He set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand

He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear
and put their trust in the LORD.
~ Psalm 40: 1-2

Blessings to you all! See you Tuesday!

Memory Verse for Tuesday, November 10th!

Hello Ladies!

Well...it seems like FOREVER since I have SEEN y'all. Maybe because it has been forever. TWO WEEKS! I have MISSED you all so much. For the last two weeks I have sat at home from 9-11 a.m. looking at my watch and thinking to myself..."O.k., it's _____a.m. and right now they are ______!" *sniff*sniff*sniff...cough, cough, cough!!! LOL!! O.k...so some of the 'sniffing' was due partly to my runny nose but the other part was because I truly did miss all of you! Thank you so much Mary H and Kari Anna for leading the last two weeks while the girls and I were home resting and healing. You are both a HUGE BLESSING to me and to the entire C.H.O.C.'olate class!

Here's the memory verse for this week as well. I apologize that I have posted it later than I had intentions of. It has taken me a while to regain my energy to do anything after being sick this last week. Have a BLESSED evening and Monday and I am VERY MUCH looking forward to seeing all of you on Tuesday! WAHOO!

He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me. ~Psalm 18: 19

Love you all and I pray that all of you are healthy!

Memory Verse for Tuesday, October 27th!

Hello Ladies!

It's so hard to believe that over a week has gone by since my last post! I pray that God is working miraculously in your lives to bring you deeper freedom from your fears. Blessings to you all and see you in class!

The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your love, O LORD, endures forever ~ do not abandon the work of your hands. ~ Psalm 138: 8

Love ya!

New Memory Verse for Tuesday, October 20th!

Hello Ladies!

From now on I am going to post our weekly memory verse on the Blog so those that had to miss class still have access to the memory verse (or anyone else that wants to work on memorizing Bible verses :-) LOL!)! Are you ready? Here it is:

19 Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the LORD, 20 and that he may send the Christ, who has been appointed for you~even Jesus. ~ Acts 3: 19-20

Happy memorizing Ladies! I pray that we can all FACE our fears this week and TAKE the COURAGE that God provides. Remember, The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. ~ Deuteronomy 31: 8 . Also, If ____________, then GOD!

Blessings to all of you!

It's Fall...and I have the 'itch' to cook, cook, cook!

Hi again!

O.k. this post isn't going to be Bible Study related at all but I can't help myself! After my love for God and then my family He has blessed me with a love for cooking and baking! I would much rather cook than clean or do any other household 'chore'! I love to try new recipes too and if you don't already know this about me, I have a confession to make....I am an "Allrecipes.com-aholic"! LOL!!!! I love to cook all year round but there is just something about the onset of a little chill in the air that inspires me to make all those wonderful, warm comfort foods and desserts!! We can't forget the desserts!!! Apple pie, pumpkin pie......the list is endless!

Today I just can't help but share a few of my favorite recipes off of there with you! I hope that you enjoy them. Also, if you do end up trying any of these recipes, PLEASE let me know what you thought! I'd love to hear from you!

The first recipe I want to share is an "Easy Granola Bar" recipe that I found and my family can't get enough of. They are truly easy and you can adapt them to your families likes. I will never buy store-bought granola bars again! I have to make these at least twice a week now and they usually don't last more than 24 hours!!!!

Another recipe that I found and absolutely LOVE is "Scalloped Potatoes and Onions". These are the best and creamiest scalloped potatoes I have ever had. They also don't contain any milk...GASP...so if you add ham or anything salty, it doesn't curdle like it would if it had milk in it. I also add shredded cheese to the top for the last 15 to 20 minutes of bake time. Also, if you increase the heat to 375 degrees it takes about half of the suggested time to bake.
O.k....only a couple more to go and then I will stop for now! I PROMISE!!!!

How about meatloaf? I can never find the 'perfect' meatloaf recipe and will keep trying until I do but this one is pretty good. I love the 'sauce' for the top for sure! "Mini Meatloaves".

How about desserts anyone? I just tried this apple pie recipe last week and it very different from any other apple pie recipe I have tried and I really like it. I think it will be my 'go to' recipe from now on! It's called, "Apple Pie by Grandma Ople"( you can't go wrong with a recipe that has "Grandma" in the title, can you?!). NOTE: I am having problems with the link to this recipe but if you just go to Allrecipes.com and type in "Apple Pie by Grandma Ople" you should find it that way. Sorry...I'll be working on this!

How about coconut and custard? Here's an excellent crustless (super EASY!) Coconut Custard pie called "Mother's Day Pie".

Finally, this is the last one...for now! Don't like coconut and custard together? How about just plain old "Get-Well Custard"? That's the name of the recipe on Allrecipes.com but my Mom has been making the exact same recipe since I can remember and just calls it "Baked Custard"!

Uh oh...I forgot this one! How about a "Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce"? it truly is a super easy and good tasting Alfredo sauce that takes only 5-10 minutes to make. The only things I change in this recipe are as follows: Instead of 2 tsp. of garlic powder I do 1 tsp. garlic powder and 1 tsp. minced garlic (fresh or from a jar) and then I add 1 tsp. basil and 1/2 tsp. nutmeg at the end along with the Parmesan because many of the reviews suggested to do so and it really does add a lot of flavor. I serve it with chicken breasts or steamed broccoli or both depending on what I have on hand! It makes a LOT too. I usually cook a whole bag of noodles with this and tend to have some sauce still left over. Keep in mind that I don't like to 'drown' my noodles in sauce though! I like just enough to get the noodles 'wet' and have a taste of sauce :)!!

O.k...I am truly done for now! I promise! I hope all of you are having a BLESSED week and managing to stay somewhat dry with all the rain we're having these days. It was SO GOOD to see the sun shining yesterday though, wasn't it?

WOW! Has it really been that long?!

Hello Ladies!
I just checked on here to see how long it had truly been since I had posted anything! April 22nd? Oh my!!! I must apologize! I had such good intentions of posting frequently and that was FIVE months ago!

Anyway, I don't have a lot of time to post anything 'profound' right now but just had to get on here and write SOMETHING! LOL!!! All I did want to say is I am having an absolute BLAST going through the Beth Moore's Esther study with y'all. I hope all of you that are attending either the Tuesday morning study or the Dark C.H.O.C.'olate evening study with Kathy and Mary are enjoying digging into the Word as much as I am.

I have made a promise to myself and to you to post more often. My goal: at least once a week! There...you have it in writing. Keep me to my word ladies! Have a BLESSED week and I'm looking forward to joining in with you and seeing what God has on His heart for tomorrows Bible Study.

Blessings to all of you :)

How Exciting!

Welcome Everyone to Living Light Church's C.H.O.C.'olate (Cultivating Hearts of Community) Blog!

I know this is a common phrase that you hear from me but I am "SO EXCITED," truly!!! This is going to be one more way that we can stay connected! This will be another place for us to get information, share things that God has put on our hearts, share recipes, etc.! So, if you think there is something you would like to post/share with the rest of the group just let Mary H or myself know and we'll go from there. It will also be a place you can check to see if class would potentially be canceled in case of bad weather, which I hope that we don't have to worry about for at least another five months or so!
Plus, it's fun for me to 'tinker' with something new!

I don't think I say this often enough so I will say it again here...in writing for ALL to see! I am so BLESSED to be a part of such a special group of Ladies who serve the LORD, Yahweh ;-), so faithfully and diligently. It is such a pleasure for me to see all of you share so openly about how God is working in and through your lives. I learn so much from each and every single one of you! Each one of you is a loved child of God. Remember our memory verse,

How great is the love that the Father lavished on us, that we should be called children of God. And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. ~ 1 John 3:1.

You are the true teachers, not me. Thank you is not a big enough word! I can't imagine spending every Tuesday morning any other way! I will miss all of you terribly next Tuesday when we don't have class, but have fun anyway!

I am really looking forward to our next study which starts the following Tuesday, May 5th. It's going to be a totally different format than we have ever done before so I think it will be fun but you'll have to extend me a huge 'umbrella of grace' as I am learning right along with you! The first study we'll be doing will be on Dorcas, Lydia, Phoebe, and Priscilla in regards to serving. So, if you would like to do a little pre-class research on those particular ladies...go for it!!

After four weeks of study we will take a TWO week :-( break and start up our summer study, Sacred Influence, by Gary Thomas, on June 16th. We will also have the pleasure of sitting under the teaching of Becky Misar (I'm sooooo EXCITED about that!!!) as she will be co-leading with me! That will be an 8 week study ending on August 4th. Then we'll take a THREE week ;-( ;-( break and start in on Esther, by Beth Moore, in early September! What can I say...I'm so EXCITED!!! Need I really say more?!!!!!!

All of you have a BLESSED couple of weeks and I'll see you back in class on the 5th!

In Christ,
Jenni
