It's Fall...and I have the 'itch' to cook, cook, cook!

Hi again!

O.k. this post isn't going to be Bible Study related at all but I can't help myself! After my love for God and then my family He has blessed me with a love for cooking and baking! I would much rather cook than clean or do any other household 'chore'! I love to try new recipes too and if you don't already know this about me, I have a confession to make....I am an "Allrecipes.com-aholic"! LOL!!!! I love to cook all year round but there is just something about the onset of a little chill in the air that inspires me to make all those wonderful, warm comfort foods and desserts!! We can't forget the desserts!!! Apple pie, pumpkin pie......the list is endless!

Today I just can't help but share a few of my favorite recipes off of there with you! I hope that you enjoy them. Also, if you do end up trying any of these recipes, PLEASE let me know what you thought! I'd love to hear from you!

The first recipe I want to share is an "Easy Granola Bar" recipe that I found and my family can't get enough of. They are truly easy and you can adapt them to your families likes. I will never buy store-bought granola bars again! I have to make these at least twice a week now and they usually don't last more than 24 hours!!!!

Another recipe that I found and absolutely LOVE is "Scalloped Potatoes and Onions". These are the best and creamiest scalloped potatoes I have ever had. They also don't contain any milk...GASP...so if you add ham or anything salty, it doesn't curdle like it would if it had milk in it. I also add shredded cheese to the top for the last 15 to 20 minutes of bake time. Also, if you increase the heat to 375 degrees it takes about half of the suggested time to bake.
O.k....only a couple more to go and then I will stop for now! I PROMISE!!!!

How about meatloaf? I can never find the 'perfect' meatloaf recipe and will keep trying until I do but this one is pretty good. I love the 'sauce' for the top for sure! "Mini Meatloaves".

How about desserts anyone? I just tried this apple pie recipe last week and it very different from any other apple pie recipe I have tried and I really like it. I think it will be my 'go to' recipe from now on! It's called, "Apple Pie by Grandma Ople"( you can't go wrong with a recipe that has "Grandma" in the title, can you?!). NOTE: I am having problems with the link to this recipe but if you just go to Allrecipes.com and type in "Apple Pie by Grandma Ople" you should find it that way. Sorry...I'll be working on this!

How about coconut and custard? Here's an excellent crustless (super EASY!) Coconut Custard pie called "Mother's Day Pie".

Finally, this is the last one...for now! Don't like coconut and custard together? How about just plain old "Get-Well Custard"? That's the name of the recipe on Allrecipes.com but my Mom has been making the exact same recipe since I can remember and just calls it "Baked Custard"!

Uh oh...I forgot this one! How about a "Quick and Easy Alfredo Sauce"? it truly is a super easy and good tasting Alfredo sauce that takes only 5-10 minutes to make. The only things I change in this recipe are as follows: Instead of 2 tsp. of garlic powder I do 1 tsp. garlic powder and 1 tsp. minced garlic (fresh or from a jar) and then I add 1 tsp. basil and 1/2 tsp. nutmeg at the end along with the Parmesan because many of the reviews suggested to do so and it really does add a lot of flavor. I serve it with chicken breasts or steamed broccoli or both depending on what I have on hand! It makes a LOT too. I usually cook a whole bag of noodles with this and tend to have some sauce still left over. Keep in mind that I don't like to 'drown' my noodles in sauce though! I like just enough to get the noodles 'wet' and have a taste of sauce :)!!

O.k...I am truly done for now! I promise! I hope all of you are having a BLESSED week and managing to stay somewhat dry with all the rain we're having these days. It was SO GOOD to see the sun shining yesterday though, wasn't it?
